Destiny

Posted by imogen on February 25, 2009

I never really paid much attention to this song before but when I heard this song in one of the weddings I saw on television, I realized, it was really beautiful. It speaks about love and how two people are destined to be together. It’s really sweet…

wedded

What if I never knew?
What if I never found you?
I never had this feeling in my heart

How did this come to be?
I don’t know how you found me
But from the moment I saw you
Deep inside my heart I knew

Baby you’re my destiny
You and I were meant to be
With all my heart and soul
I’ll give my love to have and hold
And as far as I can see
You were always meant to be
My destiny

I wanted someone like you
Someone that I could hold on to
And give my love until the end of time

But forever was just a word (just a word)
Something I’d only heard about
But now you’re always there for me
When you say forever I believe

Maybe all we need
Is just a little faith
Cuz baby I believe
That love will find a way

You’re my destiny

I’d Still Say Yes

Posted by imogen on February 7, 2008

I love this song… I love the message and the melody. No matter what happens, if it’s true love, I’d still say yes…

young-lovers-at-mall.jpg

I love you most
When we share a phase
Of special good times together
It seems like our love can’t get much better

Coz we were as close as two could be
Knew love could last forever
We’re more than just lovers
We’re good friends

And even if our love could drift away
I wouldn’t even think twice
If I wanted love back again

Because I’d still say yes to you again
My Darlin’ for you, I do it all again
Yes, I’d still say yes to you again
Darlin’ for you, I do it over and over again

Where does it go?
How does it end?
True love it seems so easy
‘Coz we have no doubts
Where we belong

They say time can heal a broken heart
And true love never ends
So why not start where we begin

Saving Forever For You

Posted by imogen on August 28, 2007

You know how it is sometimes… you’ve heard many good songs in the past, but completely forgot them as time goes by. For me, this is one of those songs. Good thing I heard this song being sung on TV one day. Brought it back to memory.

love_forever.jpg

I’ve never been so sure
About anything before
But this loving feeling
Gonna be a feeling I feel forever more

Looking in your eyes
Tomorrow’s all I see
Long as there’s forever, baby
I will always be

Saving forever for you, baby
You are the only one
I’ll ever give forever to
Love for a lifetime won’t do, baby
Wanna always stay together
So I’m saving forever for you

You’ll be my world
As long as there’s a world turning ‘round
And you’ll be my heaven
Baby, till the heavens all come falling down

Look inside my heart [Oh, yeah]
Love is all you’ll see
Loving you forever, baby
Living just to be

Forever I’ll be loving you
Long as time passes by
I’ll be there beside you, ho
Through it all, I’ll be standing by you

Love Is My Decision

Posted by imogen on August 16, 2007

This is an old song that hasn’t been played for a while over the radio. I completely forgot all about this song actually, if it weren’t for the wonderful DJ who played it on air one day. I was in the office at the time, and when I heard it, I didn’t know the title, so I mentally remembered the lyrics and searched the Internet for the title. And voila! I don’t know why I love this song so much… but here goes.

a-couple-in-love.gif

And when they tell you that you’re crazy,
You’ve got to try to settle down,
You got to turn yourself around,
Life is more than just good times, and parties,

You got the moon in New York city,
You’ve got the whole world in your hands,
Too many cards from Disneyland,
Saying that I was sorry, come one day,

But if, I ever have to chose, love is my decision,
With you I just can’t lose, stay here by my side,
Love is my decision, forever you and I
I’ll tell you this
If you should ever go away, I’ll know
That I could never live a single day without you

You are the one that lights my world up
The one that money just can’t buy
And now I promise I will try
Maybe even a family together

But if, I ever have to chose, love is my decision,
With you I just can’t lose, stay here by my side,
Love is my decision, forever you and I…

When She Cries

Posted by imogen on August 11, 2007

I love the message of the song… I know for sure that many women out there could relate to this song. If only there exists a guy who would sing this song sincerely…

crying-woman.jpg

The road I have travelled on
Is paved with good intentions
It’s littered with broken dreams
That never quite came true
When all of my hopes were dying
Her love kept me trying
And she does her best to hide
The pain that she’s been through

When she cries at night
And she doesn’t think that I can hear her
She tries to hide all the fear she feels inside
So I pray this time
I can be the man that she deserves
‘Cause I die a little each time
When she cries

She’s always been there for me
Whenever I’ve fallen
When nobody else believed
She’d be there by my side
I don’t know how she takes it
Just once I’d like to make it
Then there’ll be tears of joy
That fill her loving eyes

Friends & Lovers

Posted by imogen on August 5, 2007

I’ve heard this song many times before, but I never knew the title until recently. The first time I heard it, I was drawn to the melody. Now, I can’t get it enough of it. It’s a sad song about friends becoming lovers…

new-fl-complete.jpg

What would you say if I told you
I’ve always wanted to hold you?
I don’t know what we’re afraid of
Nothing would change if we made love

‘Cause I’ll be your friend
And I’ll be your lover
Well, I know in our hearts we agree
We don’t have to be one or the other
Oh no, we could be one to each other

Yes, it’s a chance that we’re taking
And somebody’s heart may be breaking
But we can’t stop what’s inside us
Our love for each other will guide us

I’ve been through you
And you’ve been through me
Sometimes a friend is the hardest to see
We always know when it’s laid on the line
Nobody else is as easy to find

So I’ll be your friend
And I’ll be your lover
Well, I know in our hearts we agree
We don’t have to be one or the other
Oh no, we could be one to each other

Something In Your Eyes

Posted by imogen on July 29, 2007

I love this song… I heard it over the radio one day, and it made me feel nostalgic. I can’t really explain, I never really analyzed the lyrics before, I just liked the melody of the song. It has a certain sadness in it, that seems to soothe me.

23402898.jpg

There was a certain face
That filled a thousand nights
With all the sweetest dreams
And promises of paradise
But that face was gone
When the dawn would come and steal you
Yet, I still could feel you
Waiting just a kiss away
I’d surely know your face
Your love would cast a spell
I’d recognize each curve and line of you,
I knew it well
Now at last you’re here and I can tell…

Something in your eyes I see
Is all I ever wanted
And something in your smile for me
Is calling out my name
Your eyes, it seems
Are mirrors of my dreams
In ways I can’t explain.
And my heart will never be the same…

We never said a word
As if we’d always known
But through the bittersweet of waiting
We were not alone
Now were close enough
For the touch of love to find us
Fantasies designed us
But they never really could
Begin to measure you
No pictures ever do
And as I watch you framed in sunlight
In a sky of blue
I know what my life’s been leading to…

Too Young

Posted by imogen on July 27, 2007

2707443750059706282s425x425q85.jpg

Hello love it’s been way too long
Since I realized that you’re the most important thing in my life
I’ve gotta the need to tell you I know that I was wrong
Show you how I feel and what’s goin’ on
I don’t know what to say

Except I love that girl so much
But I didn’t show it
Started spreading myself too thin
Fool around thought she didn’t know it
Such childish games I played I fooled her with my touch
Time has taught me so much
I’m grown enough to say

I was too young but that’s no excuse
I had too much too soon I wanted more room
To please my restless youth
Now all this peace
I can’t feel your bliss
You treated me so kind, you were all mine
But I just walk away

That sweet smile and face
Hangs heavy on my mind
Is there a way that you can turn back the hands

The more love that precious time I let slip by
I can’t take much more of this
So I gotta try
To get you back and say

True love comes once in a lifetime
And if it’s true then you’ll be back in mine

Get Here

Posted by imogen on July 27, 2007

comeheregesture.jpg

You can reach me by railway, you can reach me by trailway
You can reach me on an airplane, you can reach me with your mind
You can reach me by caravan, cross the desert like an Arab man
I don’t care how you get here, just – get here if you can

You can reach me by sail boat, climb a tree and swing rope to rope
Take a sled and slide down the slope, into these arms of mine
You can jump on a speedy colt, cross the border in a blaze of hope
I don’t care how you get here, just – get here if you can

There are hills and mountains between us
Always something to get over
If I had my way, surely you would be closer
I need you closer

You can windsurf into my life, take me up on a carpet ride
You can make it in a big balloon, but you better make it soon
You can reach me by caravan, cross the desert like an Arab man
I don’t care how you get here, just – get here if you can

I don’t care how you get here, just — get here if – you can.

Sergio Mendes

Posted by imogen on March 23, 2007

sergio_mendes_main.jpgSergio Mendes is a Brazilian Musician who was a member of the group Brasil ’66 together with Lani Hall. Mendes was probably the biggest Brazilian star in the music scene, enjoying immense popularity worldwide and performing even in the White House.I love the music of Sergio Mendes. Great melodies, great lyrics, and great vocals to go along with it. I think their music can really connect with their listeners. It has that special quality to it, that allows you to relax, love, and appreciate music at it’s best. Below, I listed 3 of their songs that I like best. Personally, when I listen to these songs, I’m being dragged back to the past (in a nice way), and I find myself reminiscing the old times. Their music is timeless, and doesn’t fade with time.

1) What Do We Mean To Each Other
2) Never Gonna Let You Go
3) Take This Love

Dishwalla

Posted by imogen on March 13, 2007

dishwalla.jpgDishwalla is an alternative rock band from Santa Barbara, California. Members include Jim Wood (keyboards), Rodney Browning Cravens (lead guitar), J.R. Richards (vocals, guitar, and keyboards), Pete Maloney (drums), and Scot Alexander (bass, Juno 60). So why the name Dishwalla, you might ask? The band’s name comes from an Indian term for a person who uses illegal equipment to descramble a television satellite signal and share it with their neighborhood. Go figure.

Anyway, I’ve only really found out about this band when I was in college. My friend introduced their music to me, and guess what, I loved it! Well, actually, I can’t really say I love ALL of their songs. I’ve only listened to their Opaline album, and there’s probably only 4 songs that I really like in it. But these songs are really good, that I had to place them in here. I remember playing these songs over and over, to the point that when I hear them back now, they pretty much remind me of my college days. Oh well, I guess music does that to you. Especially, if you play them one too many times. Listen to these songs and find out why I like them so much…

1) Candleburn – I love this song. Listen to the piano. I love the smooth, soulful, almost haunting melody it plays. I’m not really sure what the lyrics mean though. In my opinion, this is about a girl who has been burned (figuratively speaking of course). Waiting… exhausted with life… with love (I may be wrong of course), but it’s really nice.

2) Angels Or Devils – This is a cool song. I love singing along with this. The first time I heard it, I thought it had a great melody. Great vocals too. It’s got a good beat, and the message of the song is really nice too. It tells of the angels and devils in each and every one of us. We all have good and bad sides to our personalities, and I guess that’s what the song is trying to capture. Which voice is stronger, which are we predisposed to, angels or devils? Take your pick.g70393dwslv.jpg

3) Every Little Thing – The words in the lyrics, “wish i could be, every little thing you wanted” could potentially strike a lot of chords in people’s hearts, and I’m pretty sure, in one way or another, you might have experienced falling in love and wanting to say the exact same words to a special someone. Right? Well, even if you haven’t and you can’t relate to the song, it still doesn’t matter, coz the melody of the song is really catchy. Kind of acoustic and country and alternative rolled into one. It’s great.

4) Home – I love this song too, it has a certain warmth in it, and kind of sentimental sound to it. Probably because the title itself, “Home” gives me that nostalgic feeling. I don’t know, but anyway, the songs speaks about this big trial we call life, and how sometimes we get so overwhelmed by problems that all we wanna do is surrender and come home. Even for just a little while. The message is really touching actually. Sometimes, just because a song is alternative, the tendency is to overlook the lyrics, and we neglect to really understand the meaning of the song. J.R.’s vocals are awesome as always by the way, and it fits perfectly in this song. Nice.

Christopher Cross

Posted by imogen on March 10, 2007

arte.jpgChristopher Cross is an Oscar-winning, Golden Globe-winning, and five-time Grammy-winning American singer and songwriter. He is, along with Norah Jones, the only artist to receive all of the “Big Four” Grammy Awards (Best Record, Song, Album, and New Artist) in the same year. He’s actually one of my favorite singers. He’s got a really good voice, and I love the way he sings. His voice is soothing, deeply relaxing, and has a country-like quality that’s great to listen to. His music for me, is timeless. I get goosebumps whenever I listen to him. Click on the titles to listen to his tracks that I like best:

1) Sailing – definitely my favorite Christopher Cross song. This was featured in his 1979 self-titled debut album and has won 3 Grammy awards for Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Arrangement. Imagine that! I just love this song. I guess I could say that I only started REALLY liking this song when my “once” favorite local band sang it, but it totally made me realize what a great song Sailing really is. It has such a beautiful and relaxing melody. I love hearing this played on the piano. I haven’t really pondered on the lyrics to analyze its deeper meaning yet, but I guess the title speaks for itself.

2) Swept Away – love this song too! It’s so melodic, I feel like I’m being swept off my feet when I listen to it. I love the arrangement, and it’s great to sing along with. And the message of the song is so nice. It describes love, and how the magic can really literally catch you by surprise and sweep you off your feet. It’s warmly romantic, with a sort of slow melancholic, kind of nostalgic thing going on that leaves you feeling peaceful and elated. I can’t quite put my finger on it, actually. I just really feel good listening to it. The music is fantastically done, the lyrics wonderfully written. It’s really a beautiful, soothing love song. Check out the video of his live acoustic performance. So relaxing.1269_con_christopher-cross-2.jpg

3) Think Of Laura – this song is a tribute to the memory of his friend who died in a car accident and was made popular when it was used in the soap opera General Hospital. The song is really heartwarming, and Christopher’s smooth, sighing vocals is perfect to portray the message of the song. It’s really a wonderful soothing ballad, love the acoustics too.

4) Arthur’s Theme (Best That You Can Do) – this is the theme song from the 1981 film Arthur starring Dudley Moore and Liza Minnell. It’s just a song about falling in love, and I’m not really that crazy about it than the first three I listed here, but it’s a good song nevertheless, and it does leave the listener feeling good. It’s one of his songs that has a really good melody and is easy to remember. I only got the live version on audio clip though. The song won the 1981 Academy Award for Best Original Song.

Baby I Love Your Way

Posted by imogen on March 4, 2007

When I heard Mig Ayesa’s version of Baby I Love Your Way, I just fell in love with it! Actually, I wasn’t really much of a fan of the Rockstar INXS show… but I just love Mig’s voice! He has such an amazing voice, and his rendition of this song is just so beautiful… I love love LOVE it! Check out the video. I can listen to this version over and over again and not get tired of it… Hands down Mig!

Shadows grow so long before my eyes
And they’re moving across the page
Suddenly the day turns into night
Far away from the city
Don’t hesitate, ’cause your love won’t wait

Ooh baby I love your way, everyday
Wanna tell you I love your way, everyday
Wanna be with you night and day, heyyy

I can see the sunset in your eyes
Brown and gray, and blue besides
Clouds are stalking islands in the sun
I wish I could buy one, out of season

But don’t hesitate, ’cause your love, your love won’t wait

Dooh baby I love your way, everyday
I wanna tell you I love your way, eyy
And I, I wanna be with you night and day, yeah

I can see the sunset in your eyes…

Lauren Christy

Posted by imogen on March 4, 2007

christy1.jpgLauren Christy is a singer and songwriter born in London, England. She’s one of the female singers that I like. I’ve only listened to three of her songs, and I love them. Check them out (click on the titles to listen to them and to view their lyrics):

1) Steep – this song is about a woman falling out of love with a man. It doesn’t feel right anymore and she can no longer lie about her feelings. She wants to end the relationship because looking down the road, she sees her future with him is getting steep.

2) Color Of The Night – this is a sad song about love and pretense. The woman is begging for his man to open himself up to her, show his true feelings. They’re together physically, but emotionally it seems like they’re worlds apart. And because of that, she feels lost and doesn’t know where to stand. He’s hiding behind the color of the night.

3) Vanessa’s Father – actually, I don’t really get the message of this song. At least I’m not so sure I grasp the meaning behind it. But I think it’s about a girl who had an affair with an older man (Vanessa’s Father), and married him in the end. Is Vanessa her friend, though? I don’t know. But anyway, I do like the melody of this song, and it’s kinda different in the sense that it’s kinda like, more of a story than a song. So there.
